In many ways, a great winemaker is not unlike a great chef, both depending greatly upon a solid understanding of "balance" and "flow" to attain something special. Indeed, if you ever hear of a winemaker that doesn’t also love to cook, you should start to worry about the wine. From our standpoint, it is inconceivable that a person could truly be in love with wine without also being enamored with food. Our goal is to put out a new "Winemaker Recipe" with each newsletter to highlight the foods we love to pair with our wines. Please return to this page often to find those recipes as we release them.

It is very important that the right foods are paired with the right wine. It is for this reason that Blackwood Canyon is very selective about which restaurants we allow to carry our wine. We would not want our wine to be knocked down by an uncomplimentary food pairing, just as a restaurant should not want its food to be ruined by an unfriendly wine. We have spent an abundance of time thinking about and tasting our wines with food, and we would be more than happy to share that knowledge.
